We also have a permanent camp site located within the woods to our north. We are very lucky to have such a wonderful location where we provide fantastic creative summer fun. Below are a few ideas about what sets our camp apart. Thank you for looking at our camp.

What Sets Our Camp Apart?

Location, Location, Location… Our privately own campus is heaven on earth. We are set amongst a spectacular natural backdrop in the center of the largest forest preserve in the continental united states, the great Adirondack park. We are protected from the stresses and strains of modern city living because of our unique location. We also do not get the sweltering heat waves like other location near to New York city. We have beautiful warm days (75F) and cool summer nights. Our lake is a true lake not a man made water front. It is 15 miles long and the ideal place for swimming, skiing and sailing, just what kids want to do all summer long.

Safety… All activities performed at Long Lake are under the supervision of long time experienced management who are trained to be thinking one step ahead to prevent accident from ever happening. All our staff understand that safety is our primary responsibility followed by delivering a great fun summer. We have set procedures for anyone arriving on camp and and train our staff to be vigilant at all times. In most activities the ratio of tutor to campers is very low, one on one to one to five. We also have managers and unit leaders present in each department overlooking these lessons and contributing as well. We have a night watchman and counselors watching at night. The New York state health laws governing summer camps are the most stringent in the country and we not only fully comply to every law but in most cases go far beyond. We have fire drills way beyond the NY state codes, we run lost man drills more often than code requires, we have smoke detectors in every room and treat personal safety as all our priority.

Responding to Your Needs… We are unusual in so far as we truly believe that you are the most important person. We listen very carefully to the campers AND the parents needs. We try to cater to your needs as much as possible, from having the convenient 3 weeks session lengths so we can fit in around your summer plans, to having Unit Leaders who are dedicated camp professionals who have only one thing on their mind, “Are my campers having the best time they could have?” Our Unit Leaders are a group of counselors who do not have classes to teach or bunk duties. This frees them to be on hand and able to assist the campers to have the greatest time at camp possible. They are also responsible for communicating with the parents to ensure that they are well informed how their child is doing at camp. The Unit Leader is also the person a parent can call any time to get a messages to their children or discuss any concerns they may have. We like involvement from parents to helps us deliver the experience their child is looking for.

Continuity of Key Staff… Our heads of department and directors are all long term permanent professional who love camp and arrange their lives to make it possible each year. The owners Marc and Susan live on camp for the whole summer playing a key role in the camps operation and philosophy. They are the heart of our camp and enthuse all those around them to make our camp the best it can be for the campers and staff.
