For campers who love working with their hands, experimenting with materials, and turning ideas into something they can hold, our fine arts program offers plenty of room to create. At Long Lake Camp for the Arts, our open-air studios give campers a chance to explore ceramics, painting, and sculpture in a creative setting throughout summer 2027.

Our art summer camps in New York welcome campers with different levels of experience. Some arrive already comfortable with a paintbrush or pottery wheel, while others are picking up these tools for the first time. Campers receive guidance from professional artists while having room to develop their own ideas and creative style.

Studios Built for Serious Making

Our fine arts program spans three buildings. Inside are 16 separate studios and 25 artist-in-residence teachers. Each studio has its own instructor and focus.

The main facility is open all day. Indoor and outdoor work areas give campers room to spread out and think big.

Campers can spend an entire day on one project. They can also visit several studios in one afternoon. Your child decides, and they can change plans daily.

Clay, Paint, and Sculpture

Ceramics has its own dedicated studio. Campers shape clay with their hands and learn how a lump becomes a bowl, a mug, or a creature. Hands-on clay work can be calming, too. Oxford researchers studying pottery and wellbeing describe it as a mindful, relaxing experience.

Painting and drawing studios welcome every style. Sculpture lets campers build in three dimensions. Many other studios are open as well:

  • Jewelry and silversmithing
  • Fashion design, batik, and weaving
  • Printmaking, puppetry, and murals
  • Creative writing, graphics, and animation
  • Photography, digital and traditional

Why Families Choose Long Lake Camp for the Arts for Visual Arts

At Long Lake Camp for the Arts, every camper creates their own schedule. A child can spend a morning at the clay studio and an afternoon in the theater.

Beginners and advanced artists work side by side. No experience is needed. A Drexel University study found that making art lowered stress hormones for most adults, whatever their skill level.

Our teachers meet each child where they are. They offer guided classes, or they support a camper’s own project. Either way, kids leave with finished pieces and new confidence.

Life Beyond the Studio

Art is only part of the day. Campers swim, play sports, and relax by the lake. Our sample schedules show how kids mix studio time with fun.

Parents searching for overnight art camps often ask about gallery night. At the end of each session, we display campers’ work in our camp gallery. Kids go from a blank page to a gallery wall.

Seeing a child light up over their own work is a special moment. We see it every summer. We hope your family will too.

If you want summer art camps in New York with real studios, we would love to welcome your young artist.

Contact us today for details. Whether your camper is excited about ceramics, painting, sculpture, or all three, we look forward to creating with them at Long Lake.
